Departamento de Arequipa, Peru
This fabulous pass is the highest point on the remote road that runs from Antabamba to the Cotahuasi Canyon. The views on both the climb and descent are classic Puna and the road is delightfully devoid of traffic. The surface is mostly fine, but we had to push on some steep sections near the top. At the top the road goes over the flanks of a very white mountain and the Cerro Blanco mine is nearby.
