This pass lies between Sorata and the altiplano near Lake Titicaca. The majority of the climb is on tarmac and the gradient is gentle, which will come as a welcome relief if you’ve just come from the insane gradients on the Guanay to Consata road. There are good views of Illampu, Ancohuma and other mountains in the Cordillera Real, and the descent to Achacachi is all on tarmac.
